Listed below are local restaurants, a golf course, a ski rental company and an outdoor adventure company for your whitewater trips. It is necessary to book restaurants in advance so that they will be prepared for your large groups. Contact us with your desired schedule and we will help you make arrangements

Papa's Pizza -
828-733-2331- Located in nearby Newland. Jim, the owner, is happy to offer our
guests an evening Private Pizza Buffet.
In addition to some of the best pizza in the area, their buffets
abound with a varying selection of extras including chicken wings,
soups and chili, a salad bar, desert pizzas (try the cinnamon sugar!)
and a variety of drinks (included in the price).
All for only $6.75 per person!!
Times Square Diner -
828-737-0900 -Simply the best "Home Cooking" that you'll find in the area (the pot
roast is to die for!). Just a few miles down the road. Daily lunch
specials (including salad bar) for around $6. Nightly specials and
buffets. Plus a full menu of burgers, sandwiches and full meals. A
private dining room is available to better serve large groups.

Fabio's -
828-733-1314 - Also located in Newland. Fabio, a native of San Vicenzo, Italy (very
near Torino, the site of the recent Olympics) serves Italian and
International Cuisine with a new variety of dishes each night. Your food is served
either on a buffet or "family style", delivered to your table in large
quantities to be passed and shared among your party. Entrees always
include a pasta dish, a meat dish and at least one non-Italian
selection, and are accompanied by salads and side dishes galore.
Price
varies, from $7.50 up.
Golf -
Mountain Glen Golf Club
is a wonderful, 6500 yard, championship quality
golf course only a short distance from the lodge. The course is
immaculately maintained and, depending which tees you choose to play
from, can be a relaxing day at the links or a challenge that even the
best golfers can enjoy. They offer a driving range/practice area for
players as well as a snack bar right next to the Pro Shop. They have
only a limited number of rental sets, so it is highly recommended that
you bring your own clubs if you are planning to play while you are
here. Call the Pro Shop to reserve your tee times, 828-733-5804. Ask
for Tommy or Lindsay and tell them you are going to be staying at our
lodge. Prices for greens fees and carts vary by season.
Ski Rentals -
Ski Country Sports
is, in our opinion, the best of all of the equipment rental companies
in the area. They boast a huge selection of rental gear for both
skiers and snowboarders. They offer two great advantages to our
guests. For large groups they offer discounts based on the total
number of rentals. Almost as important (if not more so) they offer all
of our groups special service to ensure that you spend the less of
your vacation waiting in lines to rent your equipment. Click on the

Outdoor Adventures -
High Mountain Expeditions
offer their guests a choice of
whitewater rafting, canoeing and caving at locations throughout the
High Country. With trips to satisfy all levels of rafters/kayakers
they're sure to find one that you will enjoy.
