Fall Creek Estates

A Log Home Community

Beginning in the spring of 2007 Fall Creek Lodges will be offering luxurious log homes for sale. Located adjacent to the Grandview Lodge, the homes will be built on 23 acres of gently sloping and rolling land. The shape and orientation of the property will allow for numerous different views and terrain.

We are proud to say that the development will be the "Greenest" subdivision in this part of the country, perhaps on the entire East Coast. Each house will be outfitted with the latest energy efficient technology.

Each house will include:

bullet

Paloma brand tankless hot water heaters. Just think, never run out of hot water but save up to 30% on your water heating bills!

bullet

Geothermal Heating and Air Conditioning heat pumps. Use the constant temperature of the earth to save up to 65% of your heating and air conditioning costs!

bullet

Grid-tied Solar Electric Panels which will produce electricity year-round. When the houses are unoccupied the solar panels will actually produce "positive" energy which will actually turn your electric meter backwards! When there is not enough solar energy to supply the houses the power will automatically be drawn from the local electrical grid. These panels also have the potential of reducing electrical costs by up to 30%.

bullet

Energy Star Appliances throughout. We will be choosing the appliances for the houses with an eye toward providing, not only the highest quality equipment, but also very energy efficient products.

In addition we have specified that the buildings be built with materials that were chosen for their lack of toxic fumes. Many brands of carpet, flooring, wall coverings and insulation emit fumes that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people. Some health care professional believe that these fumes have a negative effect on everybody's immune systems. North Carolina has a standard called "Healthy Home" to address this issue. We are endeavoring to exceed the standards on every level.

We have also increased the energy efficiency of the houses by evaluating the areas where energy might be wasted due to inferior insulation or seals and redesigning to improve these elements.

Even the grounds will be maintained in a "Green" manner. The village is being built on the site of an old apple orchard. In conjunction with the North Carolina Co-operative Extension Service we will be renovating the dozens of heirloom apple trees that still remain on the property, and plan to choose the best varieties from which to create more cultivars so that we can expand the number of planted trees.

All of the common areas will be maintained with non-toxic fertilizers and pest controls. An organic vegetable garden is being built on the Lodge's property adjacent to the driveway into the Estates.

The photos above and below are of a log house nearing completion on Beech Mountain, built by our contractor using one of the same models and floor plans that we will be using (shown below). Click on the smaller photos for a larger view.

Our Log Homes will run from approximately 1250 square feet to 2100 square feet. Configurations starting at 2 bedroom, 2 bath and running up to 4 bedroom, 3 bath will be available. Depending upon the terrain on the individual lots, owners will be able to choose to create a finished lower floor or have their house built on a crawlspace foundation.

There will be three basic models. All will feature open floor plans and vaulted ceilings. The Log Homes will offer buyers an opportunity to customize the interior layout to meet their personal needs. In addition to flexible layouts there will be numerous options for cabinetry, appliances and flooring.

Sample floor plans will be available online very soon. Remember, for a very small fee, you will have the opportunity to affect changes to the stock floor plans to suit your desires.

The lots will average approximately one acre in size, with a generous amount of public space. The size and orientation of the lots will give each house the feeling of privacy that we know you would want when buying a mountain hideaway. There is a small, year-round creek on the property as well as a live, artesian spring.

When you purchase your home you will have the chance to have Fall Creek Lodges rent your house for you when you are not occupying it. The intention is to have a "Log Home Rental Village" available for short-term vacation rentals. Our experience in marketing and renting the Grandview Lodge and Jamestown Cabin gives us a unique perspective for planning and facilitating a marketing plan for renting the new Log Homes. All of the work will be done by Fall Creek Lodges. All you have to do is join the rental pool.
